GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) There’s a special program in Grand Rapids that celebrates food and community. Our Kitchen Table is now in its fourth year of its Food Diversity Program. It targets four Grand Rapids neighborhoods: Baxter, Garfield Park, SECA/Southtown, and Eastown. The program teaches people, especially moms and children, how to grow their own food.
The program is beneficial to children because it teaches them the skills needed to maintain and successfully grow a garden, the value of fresh food, and cooking skills. The program also has gardening coaches and a cooking coach to guide families through the process.
Our Kitchen Table manages the Southeast Area Farmers Market in two locations and also works with students at Martin Luther King Junior and Gerald R. Ford schools.
